Rev. Angela Denise Hussey Black is a native of Tarboro, North Carolina. She was born on June 18, 1960, in Edgecombe County NC., to the late Robert L. Hussey Sr. and Mrs. Dorothy L. Hussey. She is married to Mitchell Black and together they have a daughter, Tanis Black.

Rev. Black is a retired employee of the North Carolina Dept. of Transportation 2022. During her tenure at NCDOT she worked in numerous departments such as: Quality Assurance Specialist, Treasurer, and Fundraiser Committee Member.

Rev. Black has been a member of Young Missionary Temple since 1997. She has served as president of the Stewardess Board and Women’s Fellowship. She has also served on the Usher Board, Cleaning Ministry, and Hospitality Committees.

Rev. Black answered the call to preach and teach the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and preached her initial sermon in July 2005. She was ordained a Local Deacon in 2007 and ordained a Local Elder in the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church by Bishop Thomas Hoyt Jr. in 2012. She faithfully serves on the ministerial staff at Young Missionary Temple.

Rev. Black realizes her God given gifts and graces extends beyond the pulpit. She yields herself to be used as a liturgical dancer ministering praise through song and dance. She also serves as a member of YMT’s Drama Ministry Team to spread the gospel message of God’s love, mercy, and grace through Christian drama.

Rev. Black was instrumental in establishing and serving as director and facilitator of the Daughters of Zion Ministry (DOZ) which began in September 2010. The DOZ is a ministry geared to the development of teenage girls ages 12-18, preparing them to be holy and righteous Women of God.

She has a strong gift in the Ministry of help. She enjoys assisting all people no matter if the task is great or small. Rev. Black consistently renders words of encouragement for the edification of the body of Christ and to those seeking a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. She serves with passion and prays for a constant humble spirit as she journeys forward.

Her favorite scripture is: Psalms 118:24 “This is the day which the Lord hath made: we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
