Local Preacher

Alfreda Michelle Gist-Carrington is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina. Her parents are John Henry Gist and Patricia Elkerson Kearney; she is the 2nd of five siblings; and values: God, family, and education.

Alfreda gave her life to Christ in 3rd grade (Church of God in Prophecy); rededicated her life to God in the early 1990’s and was baptized (Macedonia New Life Church); and ‘called by God through a whirlwind, thunder, and lightning’ in 2004. She is a former member of Eagle Rock Christian Church, Wendell, NC; Mount Peace Baptist Church; and Compassionate Tabernacle of Faith Missionary Baptist Church. She joined YMT C.M.E.  church family in October, 2019 and was licensed as a local preacher in October, 2020.   Matthew 6:33 is her favorite scripture: "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (KJV). Her favorite Hymns are: Amazing Grace, Blessed Assurance, and Love Lifted Me.
She has two children (Patrice Gist Bethea [Kevin] and Dwight Carrington, Jr. [Raekia]) and four grandchildren (Peighton, Dallas, Parker, and Emery).
 
God the Holy Spirit is Minister Carrington’s greatest teacher. Alfreda is a graduate of William G. Enloe High School (1986). She has several degrees: an AA in Christian Ministerial Studies (RIBS); a BA in Public Administration (Shaw University); and a MBA in Management (Strayer University). 2017-2019 she studied Wayne Grudem’s An Introduction to Systematic Theology.

Sister Alfreda has been employed by Delta Dental of North Carolina for 15 years and currently serves as a Small Market Account Executive for the northeastern territory. She prays that God will use her for His glory to preach/teach the Bible and Evangelize. She loves: reading books to her grandchildren, the beach, eating seafood, power walking and jogging, traveling, the performing arts, and artwork.
