Rev. LaTanya Sanders
Rev. LaTanya Sanders was born in Raleigh, North Carolina. At the age of nine, she received the call to preach and teach in this order. She attended the Wake County Public School System: Lucille Hunter Elementary and Ligon Junior-Senior High School. She participated in the Civil Rights Movement for justice and equality, which was a pivotal point that sent her into the direction of ministry.
She later matriculated at Saint Augustine’s College where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Education and a minor in History. Aterwards, she taught for a year in the Randolph County Public School System. She later moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she taught in the Baltimore Public School System for 16 years. She attended Coppin State College to work on a Masters Degree in Special Education. She later moved back to Raleigh, NC where she taught for 25 years in the Wake County Public School System. Rev. Sanders attended North Carolina Central University to pursue a Master of Education degree in Administration. But God had other plans; so she answered the call to the ministry and attended Shaw University Divinity School where she graduated in 2006 with a Masters Degree in Divinity. God has smiled on me and given me the desires of my heart to preach and teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ as “I come and go”. She retired after 41 years of service as an educator. But God is not through with her yet as a laborer in the vineyards. She is delighted and overjoyed to be a member at YMT CME Church.
